condition: good
make / manufacturer: Rheingold Beer
size / dimensions: 19 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches
Rheingold Beer began in 1882in New York. During Prohibition, the company made lemonade and “near beer.”

United States Brewing Co. helped market Rheingold Beer to Chicago residents, which explains the printing on on side of the crate. Since U.S. Brewing closed furring Prohibition, it helps date this crate as Pre-Pro.

The crate held 24 bottles and measures 19 1/2 inches long, 12 1/2 inches wide, and 7 1/2 inches deep.

As you can see from the photos, the printing has retained some of its original paint. One side of the crate has quite a few staples buried in it, but they don’t come through the back. On the inside of the crate, the “Drink Rheingold Beer” is printed.

The crate is in decent shape for being over a hundred years old.
